The U.S. authorities had provided a tip to the Australian cops that had helped them to expose a significant global child abuse ring in Australia. The cops stated that the ring had also borne links to Canada, The United States, Europe, Asia and New Zealand.

In recent months, sixteen men had been arrested in the Australian states of Queensland, Western Australia and New South Wales on 828 charges of sexually abusing children. The other charges included producing and distributing child abuse materials and bestiality. The sixteen men also had a children’s soccer coach and a childcare worker included in them, stated Justin Gough, Australian Federal Police Assistant Commissioner.

The investigators have identified 46 victims in total in Australia who were aged between 16 months and 15 years.

“No child should be subjected to abuse and violence from the people they trust, whether that is a family member, a childcare worker or a soccer coach,” Gough said. “Sadly and heartbreakingly, this has been the case for the victims” abused in Australia.

The cops had referred the 18 “matters” to the United Stages. Three individuals have been arrested in action to multiple offences based on the child abuse materials or CP and the global child abuse ring, said Gough.

An additional 128 matters had been referred for investigation to the authorities in Asia, Canada, Europe and New Zealand. But the police have not yet elaborated anything on those allegations.

The initial tip against the global child abuse ring had been given back in February by the U.S. National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which is a government-funded non-profit organization. They stated that a man in the New South Wales had been uploading child sexual abuse materials, Gough mentioned.

The police had arrested a man from Wyong (a Sydney-based town) aged 30 years. They had searched his personal computer that has unveiled his presence in several social media forums that he actively took part in.

Gough said that the global child abuse ring had been utilizing the regular internet and the dark web platforms to share the abusive materials of children.

“It’s a very, very large investigation that we’ve uncovered,” Gough said.

The U.S. Homeland Security Investigations Attache Adam Parks had declined to comment on the triple arrests that were held in the United States as the prosecutions were underway. He stated that as of now, there were various ongoing investigations in the United States.

Adam Parks also did not reveal from where exactly the initial tip to the U.S. National Center for Missing and Exploited Children came. But he mentioned that such tips usually come from the U.S. social media companies that report finding the abusive materials on their platforms. He added that the paedophile ring was a global one which was rooted in Australia.
